" A City full of hopes and its flowing desire of Forever "

History :

Talisay was founded in 1648 as an estate owned by the Augustinians. In 1849, it was converted into a municipality with Silverio Fernandez as its first gobernadorcillo and Pedro Labuca as captain. Some accounts claim that Talisay got its name from the Magtalisay trees which are endemic in certain areas of the municipality, while others claim that Talisay got its name from a town in Spain.

Talisay City is considered as the second class city of the province of Cebu in the Philippines.  It has a population of 200,772 people.

Its name is taken from the 'Magtalisay' tree which is abundant in the city. It is primarily a residential and trading center. Talisay City is part of a metropolitan area known as Metro Cebu.

Tourist Spots :

  Mac Arthur
- it is loacted at Poblacion, Talisay City. I`ve been here many times a statue which reminds us of the americans heroic deeds.

Event Waited :

No one can ignore the tempting crispy brown skin and the sumptuous tasty meat of roast pig. Indeed, inasal or lechon has become a tradition for Filipinos. It is usually served during celebrations like graduations, birthdays and especially fiestas.
In Cebu island, one of its cities do not just serve inasal during fiestas but has made the local delicacy a much bigger part of its annual festival tradition.
Talisay is known for its "Inasal Baboy". We celebrated as "Halad Inasal Festival" in remember and honor  of our  patron Saint Theresa of  Avila.Which is held every 15th of the October, showcasing the inasal in colorful and creative costumes.

The festival will start with a street dancing at 1 p.m., to kick off at the City Hall. From there, the contingents will dance their way to the Cebu South Coastal Road, passing Barangay Dumlog and to Talisay City Central School grounds where the contingents will present their final performance.

Eight contingents from different schools, both public and private, will participate in this year’s festival.

These are Cansojong National High School, St. Scholastica’s Academy, Divino Amore Academy, Lawaan National High School, Candulawan Elementary School, Sisters of Mary School, San Roque Elementary School, and Maghaway Elementary school.

  1. Loved your essay about Talisay. Now I want to come there for a visit and might even move there permanently. Salamat from Bobby Bridgens in the USA.
